Central Baptist Church of Sunbury, OH

2012
It was a year of firsts for Central as the Lord led us from Westerville to Sunbury. The Central Family sacrificially gave 30k+ and many hours of labor, taking a step by faith towards acquiring and remodeling the building at 110 Tippett Court, which has carpeting, a sign, air conditioning, chairs, and permits. We were blessed to have the landscaping done by Rohr and Sons, as well as plumbing work by men from Cook Rd Baptist Church.

June 17 marked our first Sunday in the new facility and on September 9th we had our grand opening. We had 39 guests and more than 100 in attendance! In October, we held our first Missions Vision Month, hearing from Steve Bender, Shawn Koonce, and David Freeman. During the Thanksgiving holiday, we reached out to share food for our neighbors. On December 1st, we did the nativity scene for Sunbury's Christmas on the Square event. The following Saturday we decorated our new building for Christmas for the first time. Finally, we held our first Christmas Eve Service on the 24th, which had a wonderful presentation by the children titled "One Silent Night".

2013
On Palm Sunday, we had our first Baptismal Service in our new building. Then, on June 30th, we had our first Baby Dedication Service! On September 15th, we celebrated our one year anniversary since our grand opening in the new building in Sunbury. We had a Family Focus Seminar on September 20 and 21, learning "How to Have a New Family by Friday". Our exterior lighting has been reconnected and is working, allowing our sign to be seen 24 hours a day to direct people to the Lord's house.

On October 13th, Pastor Koonce officiated the wedding of Philip & Devon Shultz. We participated in Sunbury's Christmas Parade and did the Nativity on the Square this past Saturday, which was our second year doing so. After giving his final lesson in Revelation 20:11-15, we bid Scott Free a fond farewell as the Lord leads him and his family to New York through his new job. We thank them for their faithful service to the Lord at Central, blessing us with their commitment to Him through music, counsel, and faithful, diligent teaching of God's Word. They will be missed, but greatly appreciated and prayed for. We know that before long, a church in that area will be blessed by their gifted and faithful family that will enrich that church's ministry in a great way. We commend them on their new assignment; may God bless them richly.

2014
We had our first Easter egg hunt on April 12 and our second Baptismal Service on April 13. July 8-10, we held our first Central Soccer Camp. The soccer camp was featured by the Sunbury Big Walnut Chamber of Commerce and had around 45 campers when we had only hoped for 20! It was a great opportunity to reach out to the Sunbury community, giving quality instruction on soccer and God's Word. It went very well with great weather, great teamwork, and no injuries.

August3-6 we had our first Neighborhood Bible Time! August 31 was a 5th Sunday and we had a great time being encouraged and challenged by the film "God's Not Dead". We celebrated the life of Susan Tonge on September 7, having gone home to be with the Lord on July 31. For the third year in a row, we presented the live Nativity after participating in Sunbury's Christmas Parade. Then, on December 14, we had a wonderful evening of Christmas music in our program called "The Gift", which was orchestrated by Tracy Cinereski.

2015
In January, we heard special messages from Mark Conn on "Unleashing Ancient Truth about a Future Promise". On April 4, we had our second Easter egg hunt before being visited by evangalist Kent York on April19. Then in July, we held our second Central Soccer Camp. It began with lots of rain, but ended with over 70 campers enjoying an awesome time learning the basics of soccer and hearing the good news of the love of Christ!

Throughout the rest of 2015, may we seek to put Christ first and honor him, stepping out in faith. May our goal for each week be to prayerfully look for someone to demonstrate Christ's love and message to. May we remain stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, and always seeking to put His kingdom first.

Thank you Central Family for all your faithful and consistent giving to the Lord's work! Praise and thanks be to our Lord, Jesus Christ!
